Product Design

REAL System by Penumbra, Inc. is an impactful healthcare technology that utilizes virtual reality (VR) for immersive mental and physical rehabilitation. As a designer working on the product, I specialize in creating wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs for REAL TherapyView, the flat-screen mobile interfaces that support the VR components. These interfaces are designed to be intuitive, accessible, and sensitive to user needs.

REAL y-Series
With REAL y-Series, a physical or occupational therapist uses REAL TherapyView to modify real-time activity settings and view patient progress. Some of the UI elements I designed include figurative illustrations to help therapists quickly find the right exercises and assessments for their patients.

REAL System × VA Partnership
‍My team collaborated closely with the VA's Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning to design a new product aimed at enhancing remote therapeutic rehabilitation, monitoring, and patient management. I led the design efforts, creating lo-fi interactive prototypes and high-fidelity UI screens that integrated user research and VA-specific healthcare requirements.

While specific details of my design process and decision-making for REAL TherapyView are confidential, I'm proud of the positive impact this product has had for therapists and patients. My contributions to the success of this product were only possible through collaboration with a talented team of clinical specialists, engineers, a product manager, and another designer. I'm excited to continue leveraging my skills and experience to create innovative solutions that make a difference in people's lives.
